This way of inhabiting life has always inspired me. Not only as a dancer, but as a woman who understands the body as a living temple. And the more I have traveled and studied India’s traditions, the more I’ve discovered that ritual isn’t distant or complex—it’s a way of turning daily life into sacred space.
In classical India, the devadasis—women devoted to the arts, music, and dance within temple spaces—used their bodies as offerings. Every gesture was a symbol, every glance a bridge, every movement a prayer.
From this lineage comes Odissi, one of the country’s oldest classical dance forms: expressive, refined, and deeply ritualistic.
My own dance, IndOriental®, is born from this very root. It does not attempt to imitate or replicate—out of deep respect for its tradition—
but rather to drink from its ritual essence, its poetic body language, and the spirituality that moves between gesture, gaze, and emotion.
IndOriental® becomes a natural consequence of that legacy: a contemporary dance that honors the body, energy, and inner beauty of every woman.
